Kryterion partners with ARMRIT to modernize MRI technologist certification

Kryterion, a global provider of secure test development and delivery solutions, announced a new partnership on July 7 with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) to renew how the registry delivers its certification exams for MRI professionals.

Starting this month, ARMRIT candidates will have access to a hybrid testing model through Kryterion’s platform, combining traditional test centers with online proctored exams.

Kryterion said future phases of the partnership will bring expanded psychometric services and additional testing formats.

Florida-based ARMRIT has certified MRI technologists exclusively for more than three decades – the only U.S. registry to do so as a standalone specialty rather than an extension of general radiologic technology credentials. The organization has more than 4,400 members, with certified professionals working across the U.S., Canada, England, South Korea and countries throughout the Middle East.

“As demand for qualified MRI Specialists continues to grow, we recognized the need for a more flexible and candidate-friendly testing experience,” said James F. Coffin, ARMRIT’s president and executive director. “Partnering with Kryterion allows us to expand access and scale globally while preserving the security, integrity, and credibility that have defined our certifications for 35 years.”

Kryterion, founded in 2001 and part of the Drake International group of companies, built its Webassessor platform around secure, high-stakes exam delivery for credentialing bodies. Dennis Diligent, the company’s vice president of sales, said the partnership reflects Kryterion’s focus on healthcare credentialing:

“ARMRIT’s commitment to advancing MRI excellence aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver secure, accessible certification programs that help professionals demonstrate their skills and advance their careers.”

Beyond its industry, the deal is also a case study in how legacy certification programs are approaching modernization: balancing accessibility with the exam integrity regulators and employers both expect.
