Sonata Software expands Microsoft AI partnership with new focus on agentic enterprise systems

Sonata Software has expanded its position in Microsoft’s AI ecosystem after receiving the 2026–2027 Microsoft AI Business Solutions Inner Circle Award, recognizing the company among the top tier of Microsoft’s global partners focused on AI-powered business solutions.

The recognition comes as enterprises move beyond AI pilots and begin looking at how artificial intelligence can be integrated into the systems that manage customer information, financial operations, data and other core business processes.

Sonata’s relationship with Microsoft spans more than three decades. Its current capabilities cover Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform and Copilot, alongside technologies for AI-led modernization, AI-ready data, resilient AI operations and AI-led service delivery.

“The ability to embrace AI to deliver value and enterprise velocity will differentiate organizations in an AI-led era,” said Anthony Lange, Chief Revenue Officer, Sonata Software. “Our sixth Inner Circle recognition reflects the engineering depth we bring to helping enterprises turn AI into measurable business value. Together with Microsoft, we’re helping them move from systems of record to systems capable of autonomous action.”

That transition toward autonomous action is becoming one of the more important developments in enterprise AI. While generative AI applications can help employees produce or analyze information, agentic systems are designed to interact with applications, retrieve data and potentially execute actions within business workflows.

The shift creates a technical challenge for enterprises because AI models do not operate independently from the infrastructure around them. Customer data may sit in a CRM, financial information in an ERP and operational information in other applications, while legacy systems can remain responsible for critical processes.

Sonata’s Harmoni.AI tooling is designed around this broader environment. The company describes the platform as responsible-first AI tooling that combines AI-led modernization, AI-ready data, resilient AI operations and AI-led service delivery.

The company’s recent moves within Microsoft’s ecosystem also point toward agentic AI. Sonata joined Microsoft’s Copilot Agents & Platform Engineering Depth Partners program and became a Microsoft Frontier Partner, expanding its engagement with Microsoft’s Engineering and Product teams around advancing and scaling agentic AI.

For enterprises, this means AI adoption increasingly depends on whether existing technology can support systems capable of taking action. An agent may need to access several data sources, interact with different applications and operate within defined permissions and security controls.

Sonata says it has more than 6,400 AI engineers and uses its Platformation™ framework as part of its modernization work across global markets.

The Microsoft recognition comes as the company positions that engineering and modernization work around a broader shift in enterprise software: AI is moving from a tool employees use to a technology layer that can increasingly participate in how businesses operate.
